Press Release:
Bengal Bioscience, currently headquartered in Green Cove Springs, Florida USA) has announced completion of its protocols for testing saliva growth factors in support of stem cell therapeutics. After 4 years of development work, Dr. Walter P. Drake, Chief Scientist, has been able to update and revamp the old Ouchterlony double immunodiffusion assay he worked with at the Baltimore Cancer Research Center (Division of National Cancer Institute). This was accomplished by testing various gel compositions, experimenting with the newest microscopy hardware, and utilizing modern imaging software in order to quantitate the amount of antigen-antibody complexes relevant to the amount of growth factors present in saliva. The result is a proprietary amalgum of essential techniques and equipment that achieves a quantitative measurement of various growth factors and cytokines important in assessing the effectiveness of stem cell and PRP therapies. Drake’s company intends to market saliva test kits to health care providers and stem cell scientists engaged in the new Stem Cell Medicine, which are mailed to the lab for testing using pre-paid mailers. Results are reported in bar graph form with relative quantities shown, with patient saliva samples being taken before and after a procedure.
